Characteristics of Multiple Select Questions
Multiple Select questions are a type of a multiple-choice question. Thus they:
- can present problems involving reasoning and judgment
- can check memory for facts
- check recognition but not recall
- use objective rather than subjective scoring
Advantages of Multiple Select Questions
- Credit can be given for partial correctness.
- Increases amount and nature of content assessed in a single question.
Disadvantages of Multiple Select Questions
- Possible disadvantage - Since there is more than one correct answer, students are less able to effectively use an elimination strategy.
